I love askmefi.Reading this list stirred up so much latent anger in me. I am so sick of hearing, “Ayn Rand changed my life” and “A Confederacy of Dunces/Naked Lunch/Fight Club is my favorite book.” Being pretentious about what books you read (has ANYONE actually finished Infinite Jest?) is the same as regurgitating everything you read on pitchforkmedia. If your favorite book is Harry Potter or Bridget Jones’ Diary or something considered equally lowbrow and you proclaim it proudly, I will have far more respect for you. Also, I don’t like Don DeLillo. There. I said it.
